Senior Spotlight

Carly DiStefano, Midfield, Captain

This is Carly’s fourth year as a lacrosse player at Lake Catholic and has been named a team Captain. Each year Carly has continued to develop her lacrosse skills, including becoming the team draw specialist. Carly looks to improve her scoring ability this season. Carly has grown and developed with the coaching staff’s training and guidance into a skilled and committed lacrosse player. Carly looks froward to providing leadership to her teammates and leading by example in working work and showing her commitment to the sport.
Carly has been involved in many other activities at Lake Catholic, although Lacrosse is always a favorite of hers. Carly is beyond grateful to be able to play with such amazing girls and she will miss the program, girls and coaches next year. Carly will go onto Ohio University to major in Business.

Gabrielle Grandini, Attack, Captain

Gabrielle has been playing lacrosse since her freshman year and has been a member of the varsity team for two years. She plays attack and is also a two year captain. Lacrosse has been Gabrielle’s favorite extracurricular activity while at Lake Catholic. It has given her the opportunity to meet some of her best friends and make memories she will never forget. She is also extremely grateful for the support and guidance Coach Mez and Coach Bob have provided over the last four years.
Gabrielle cannot wait to finish her lacrosse career at Lake Catholic alongside her team which doubles as her family. Off the field, Gabrielle is the Student Body President, a Kairos leader, and is also a member of the golf and swimming teams. She will be attending Kent State University this fall to study nursing. Gabrielle is forever thankful for the opportunities she has been given while being a part of the Lake Catholic Women’s Lacrosse program.

Caitlin Kotek, Midfield,

Caitlin has played lacrosse for the Cougars since her sophomore year. Caitlin is entering her second season as a varsity player. Caitlin is heavily involved in school extracurricular activities such as Student Government, Spiritual Life, Homecoming Committee, and National Honors Society. Caitlin has been on the honor roll and maintained a 4.1 GPA all four years as a Lake Catholic student. Caitlin has also played basketball at Lake Catholic for four years. Caitlin wishes to study both International Business and Marketing with a Spanish Minor at Duquesne University next fall.

Jordan Pohlhammer, Goalie

Jordan has played lacrosse for four years. Through guidance, Jordan has improved her skills and is now the starting goalie for for the second season on the varsity. Jordan believes that being a part of the Lacrosse Team has given her experiences and life lessons that she wouldn’t have been able to learn elsewhere. Jordan is also involved in her school life by participating in extracurricular activities such as choir and being a part of the athletic training group. Jordan wishes to continue her education, and her lacrosse career while working to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse.

McKenzie Montes, Attack

McKenzie has been playing lacrosse for for four years at Lake Catholic. McKenzie’s lacrosse career started as a goalie, however concussion injuries has led her to change her position to attack this season. Lacrosse has been one of McKenzie’s favorite activities throughout her time at Lake Catholic. McKenzie has met some of her best friends through lacrosse, ate many great snacks, thanks to Coach Bob, and has learn many skills she can use on and off the field from Coach Mez and her teammates. McKenzie looks forward to her senior season with her fellow teammates but she hopes it does not go by too fast. She will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall. McKenzie is incredibly thankful for the Women’s Lacrosse Program at Lake Catholic and glad she has the opportunity to play with such a great group of girls. McKenzie will miss the program next year. Go Cougars!

Tessa Newman, Defense, Captain

Tessa has played lacrosse for all four years of her high school career. She was voted as one of the Co-Captains this year and is very excited to lead her teammates. Tessa loves lacrosse and her team and looks forward to lax season every year. Tessa is involved in many extracurricular activities at Lake including being Co-Captain of the tennis team, Executive Secretary, Kairos leader, cast and crew of the plays and musicals, Spiritual Life and more. Academics are very important to Tessa, and she has remained at the top of her class for all four years at Lake Catholic.

Tessa is undecided as to which university she will attend but plans to major in Finance with a double minor in Business Analytics and Criminology and attend law school. She is excited for this season and loves playing lacrosse with such a great team and coaching staff.

Lily Rogers, Midfield/Attack, Captain

Lily has played lacrosse for the three years she has attended Lake Catholic and has earned a varsity letter each year. She is enjoying being one of four captains this year. After transferring during her sophomore year from Kirtland High School to Lake Catholic High School, Lily has made many friends on the lacrosse team who helped integrate her into the Cougar community. Lily actively participates in student government, Spiritual Life, LC Ambassadors, Honors Society, and is traveling to Ecuador with the Campus Ministry team this summer. Lily’s favorite pastime when not playing lacrosse is horseback riding, an activity she has enjoyed for thirteen years. Lily competes on an Interscholastic Riding team as well as United States Equestrian Federation rated shows. Lily plans on studying Health Sciences at Clemson University (South Carolina) in the fall. another of Lily’s favorite activities is baking. Lily loves to bake treats for Coach Bob.
